ASU Golf climbs three places at Memphis Women’s Invitational

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (ASU) – The Arkansas State women's golf team climbed three places in the Memphis Invitational standings on Tuesday to finish the weather-shortened tournament in 10th place among 18 teams with a two-round combined total of 646.

The Red Wolves ended Monday's first round in 13th place after shooting a 333, but cut 20 strokes off that total the following round to move up in the standings. Four A-State golfers improved on their first-round score Tuesday as the Red Wolves posted the sixth best team score of the day.

Second-round play was suspended yesterday due to darkness and completed this morning, while the third round was canceled due to inclement weather at Ridgeway Country Club.

The Red Wolves were led by Jennifer Loiacano, who shot a combined 155 to finish tied for 16th place. Loiacano carded an opening-round 76 that tied Jennifer Welch for the lowest single-round score on the team. Welch shot a first-round 86 yesterday, but came back to post a 76 today and jump from from 70th place to a tie for 44th in the final standings with a combined 162.

Anna Carling finished tied for 46th place with a combined 186 (83-80), Aly Seng tied for 58th place with a 167 (89-78) and Courtney Manning tied for 62nd place with a 168 (88-80). Competing as an individual, Anna Flanrey finished tied for 81st place with a 174 (84-90).

Competing in their final fall tournament, the Red Wolves won't return to action until Feb. 20-22 when they compete at the Kiawah Island Classic in South Carolina.
