A-State Men’s Golf finishes 10th at Memphis Intercollegiate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (ASU) – The Arkansas State men's golf team shot a final-round 309 Tuesday at the Memphis Intercollegiate, ending the 54-hole tournament at the Colonial Country Club in 10th place among 15 teams with a combined 902.

A-State finished only one stroke behind ninth-place Iowa State and within nine strokes of fourth-place Memphis, while South Alabama won the tournament with an 878. ASU finished ahead of Louisiana Tech, Marshall, Southern Mississippi, Wisconsin and Army.

The Red Wolves finished the first two rounds tied for third place and with three players among the top 12 individual leaders, but dropped to 10th place in the final standings after posting a 309 today that was 13 strokes above their opening-round score and 12 over their second-round total.

A-State still finished with two players among the top-20 leaders, including Cory Williamson in a tie for 13th place with a combined 222. Williamson carded a second-round 71 that tied Chris Pledger for the lowest single-round score by an ASU player at the tournament. Pledger finished tied for 20th place with a combined 224.

Lloyd du Preez finished tied for 28th place with a 225, Wessel Zwiegers tied for 54th place with a 232 and Chance Holden tied for 67th place with a 238. Competing as an individual, Sawyer Radler finished 80th with a 253.

The Red Wolves will return to action Feb. 21-22 at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.
