Little Rock picked for 2012 NCAA women's tourney rounds

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The NCAA has announced that Little Rock is among the cities that will host first- and second-round games in the 2012 women's Division I basketball championship.

Arkansas-Little Rock spokesman Joe Angolia said Wednesday the games will be at the Stephens Center on the UALR campus.

The Arkansas-Little Rock Lady Trojans advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament last season, beating Georgia Tech and losing to Oklahoma, which advanced to the semifinals.

Verizon Arena hosted first- and second-round men's tournament games in 2008. The arena in North Little Rock seats up to 18,000 in a basketball configuration.

The Stephens Center seats 5,600.
