Duct taping teachers to walls raises money for Rwandan students

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Area schools have been busy with Red Ribbon week and other activities.

Westside Middle School finished out the week with costumes, line dancing and duct tape.

Taping Coach Todd Williams and teacher Sabrina Morgan to the gym wall is a accumulation of a fundraiser for Africa Reads. The money was collected by students to vote who they wanted to see taped to the wall.

Autumn Lovelady of the Student leadership teams says the money goes to good use.

"And we send it off. They use that money to buy books and stuff for the kids in Africa in Rwanda schools," Lovelady says.

The money raised is sent to Rwanda through Harding University.

The students raised $500 thousand dollars for Rwandan students.

19 rolls of duct tape were used to stick the Coach Williams and Sabrina Morgan to the wall.
