JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) "I think it's a wonderful opportunity that they open the doors up and let the public see what they do. I mean it's a different scale of anything anyone will ever see," said visitor to the Nordex site, Robert Huckabay.
Nordex, a wind turbine manufacturer, opened its doors to the public and provided visitors with a chance to see the state of the art facility and what will be done here.
"It's something that's never been in this area, and wanted to see what it's all about," said Huckabay.
"I've been looking forward to this day and the possibility of seeing what they've got," said visitor, Michael Barrett.
What they've got is tens of thousands of square feet of production, office, and training space. It's a multi-million dollar investment in Jonesboro that teacher, Michael Barrett, wants to tell his students about.
"I teach manufacturing and machining and I'm always interested in new technology that I can learn so that I can better my students," said Barrett.
Barrett says having this kind of technology will put the area and state on the map. He says this is just the beginning.
"Manufacturing is alive and well in Jonesboro Arkansas, and being involved in manufacturing in Jonesboro Arkansas is a good thing," said Barrett.
Visitor Robert Huckabay, says he knows renewable energy is getting a lot of attention, and this plant is sparking even more of an interest.
"A cleaner environment, it's the way of the future," Huckabay.
