Lyon Men's and Women's Basketball beat Ecclesia in season opener Friday night

Batesville, AR - The Lyon Scots men's and women's basketball teams beat Ecclesia College Friday night in their respective season openers.

Scots (Men) 79, Ecclesia 70

Andy Lee notched a double-double and Aaron Farris dropped in a career-high score to spark the Lyon College Scots to 79-70 triumph over Ecclesia College on Friday evening in the season opener at Becknell Gym.

Lee scored a game-high 23 points and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds to notch the double-double. The senior guard 6 of 18 shots from the field and nailed a perfect 9 of 9 from the free-throw line. He also had three steals.

Farris kicked in 17 points and six boards in 26 minutes on the floor. Slater Belew and Quinn Cooper added 11 points apiece, while Anthony LaBellarte lead the Scots with five assists.

Robert Valentine paced Ecclesia College with 23 points.

Lyon is idle until Monday in a road contest against Victory University. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.

Scots (Women) 82, Ecclesia 51

The Lyon College Scots shot a blazing 70 percent in the first half en route to an 82-51 rout of Ecclesia College on Friday evening in the Scots' season opener at Becknell Gym.

Lyon scored 53 points in the first half and shot 53 percent (26 of 49) from field-goal range for the game. The Scots defense held Ecclesia to just 36 percent shooting (20 of 55) from the floor.

K.K. Hodges led the Scots with 17 points and seven rebounds. Hodges scored her team-high total on 6 of 9 shooting from the field and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line. Guard Christine Smith added 14 points and had three steals and Lauren Ramsey pitched in 12 points and seven boards. Phagen Altom added eight points and freshman Alex Davidson had seven.

Ecclesia's Kayla Chambers scored a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds.

The Scots hit the hardwood again on Monday evening for an exhibition contest against Arkansas State. Tipoff for that game is 7 p.m. at Jonesboro.
