Nettleton upsets Siloam Springs to win 5A State Volleyball title

Bentonville, AR (KAIT) - Siloam Springs entered Saturday the six-time defending 5A state volleyball champion. Four sets later, Nettleton would shock the Natural State.

The Lady Raiders dropped the first set at Bentonville High, but would win the next three to capture their first state volleyball title since 1987.

The win continued a streak for Northeast Arkansas. A team from this region has won at least one state title in every season since 1991.

Northeast Arkansas teams were 4-0 on state title Saturday. Marion captured their first state volleyball title in school history when they defeated Van Buren in the 6A title game. In 4A, Valley View swept Shiloh Christian in straight sets. The Blazers have won 6 state titles in the last 8 years.

Finally in 3A, Crowley's Ridge Academy blanked St. Joseph to capture their 6th crown in school history. The Falcons won their first state championship since 2002.

Marion, Valley View & CRA didn't lose a set on their way to the state title.
