HAZEN, Ark. (AP) - Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Republican challenger John Boozman are expressing optimism as they reach the final days of their fight for Lincoln's Senate seat in Arkansas.
Lincoln campaigned in Little Rock and at a rice festival in Hazen on Saturday while Boozman spent the day in northwest Arkansas. Boozman did not have any public events on his schedule and planned to visit his mother in Van Buren.
Lincoln is trailing Boozman in most polls and is considered 1 of the most vulnerable Senate incumbents seeking re-election.
Lincoln says she believes her status as a moderate would be even more important in Washington if Congress ends up more closely divided. Boozman has challenged Lincoln's independence and says she's too closely aligned with the Obama White House.
