Springfield, MO (ASU) — The Arkansas State women's bowling team (12-1) took home the Greater Ozark Invitational title Sunday afternoon in Springfield, Mo. after going 2-1 in the final day of baker best-four-of-seven action.
"This is our first tournament victory since I began coaching here," said ASU head coach Justin Kostick. "It's nice to bring home a title and go 12-1 to start the year. The girls made some really clutch shots and were on top of a lot of adjustments. They made all the adjustments we needed and made the proper shots with those adjustments."
The Red Wolves fell to Sam Houston State 4-2 (170-183, 221-201, 193-210, 219-168, 173-202, 145-173) in the first match of the day, but A-State bounced back to secure a spot in the title match with a 4-2 win over tournament-host Central Missouri (152-172, 165-222, 194-135, 257-168, 155-181, 189-168, 168-161).
ASU met Sam Houston again in the final match of the tournament, winning 4-2 (167-176, 194-189, 196-171, 189-141, 157-158, 212-190).
The Red Wolves bowling squad will be back in action Nov. 12-14 when it travels to Merrillville, Ind. for the Crusader Classic.
