CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (SEMO) - Southeast Missouri senior LB Joshua Jackson was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Defensive Player of the Week Sunday.
A native of Baytown, Texas, Jackson had seven tackles, a sack, tackle for loss and forced a fumble (that ended a drive at midfield) to lead Southeast to a 24-17 win over UT Martin Saturday.
Jackson also deflected a pass which landed in the hands of DT Josh Gipson. The turnover eventually led to three points for the Redhawks.
The Southeast defense limited UT Martin to just 58 total yards and zero points in the first half.
Jackson became the third different Redhawk player to earn OVC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season.
Eastern Kentucky QB T.J. Pryor (Offensive), UT Martin P Joe Hook (Specialist) and Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo (Newcomer) were the other honorees.
