JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Refusing to buckle your seat belt? You might want to think again during the Thanksgiving holiday since the Jonesboro Police Department will be out in full force. The Click it or Ticket campaign will start up again on Nov 22 and run through Nov 28.
Police say those who will travel for Thanksgiving should make sure everyone in their vehicle is buckled up unless they want to run the risk of getting a ticket. Wearing a seat belt costs nothing, but not wearing one could cost lives.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), regularly wearing a seat belt reduces the risk fatal injury in a crash by 45% and reduces risks of moderate to serious injury by 50%.
