JONESBORO, Ark. -- Families and travelers across Region 8 are making plans for the upcoming Fourth of July weekend, and gas stations are among the list of places to stop.
Standing in front of a local gas station, it that has a fairly good pre-Fourth crowd fueling up for the weekend. Many are leaving to area lakes and parks for the long holiday weekend.
"We were going to take our jet ski and play on them with our little girl, but my husband may have to work," said Jonesboro resident Jennifer Shaw.
During the past few months people everywhere have been surprised to see the rise and fall of prices at the the pumps. The K8 Pump Patrol went to eight different local stations to find the average price at area pumps. In Region 8, the average price of petrol is $1.36 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.
Dale Hatcher and his son are on their way to Branson, Mo., for the weekend. He has decided to pay around a $1.40 per gallon at a local station.
"I drive a truck for a living, so I notice that the prices are different from state to state," Hatcher said. "They're cheaper here than they are in other places I go to."
