A court hearing could disrupt 7A & 6A State Playoffs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The upper levels of Arkansas' high school football playoffs could face some late reseeding because of a lawsuit that seeks to restructure some of the conference .

A Crawford County judge on Monday will consider whether to grant an injuction in the Van Buren School District's lawsuit against the Arkansas Activities Association.

The district's lawsuit filed last month seeks a restructuring of the conferences in the state's two largest athletic classifications. It also wants to change the points system that determines playoff seedings.

If granted, an injunction would affect the pairings in playoffs that begin this week. Currently, the 32 teams whose schools have the largest enrollments are split into two 16-team classifications, Class 7A and Class 6A. Van Buren is 6A but played mostly 7A schools this season.
