BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Sentenced to 40 years confinement on a rape charge, a former Baxter County resident is now convicted on additional charges.

The United Stated District Court, Western District of Arkansas – Harrison Division has sentenced Kirk DeMeyer, 52, on four counts of production of child pornography. According the Baxter County Sheriff's Office, DeMeyer pled guilty to the charges on Apr. 9, 2010.

Presiding Judge Jim Hendren sentenced him to 30 years for each of the four counts with each sentence to be served consecutively. He'll be serving a total of 120 years in federal prison in addition to having to pay a fine of $25,000.

Police say DeMeyer was originally arrested on May 21 on charges of rape and second degree endangering the welfare of a minor. The Baxter County Sheriff's Office, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, and the FBI accumulated evidence indicating that DeMeyer was receiving and downloading child porn on his computer. Investigators also say they obtained a search warrant and found evidence that DeMeyer did engage in sexual activity with a 14-year-old female.

DeMeyer was sentenced to 40 years in circuit court on Sept. 24, 2009, taken to the Arkansas Department of Corrections on Oct. 6, 2009, and later indicted on 11 counts of producing child pornography. Seven of the counts were dismissed upon a guilty plea to four counts.

A pre-sentence report indicated that DeMeyer had thousands of photos and hundreds of videos of child pornography in his possession.
