JONESBORO, Ark. (11/10/10) – Arkansas State women's bowling head coach Justin Kostick announced Wednesday that Sarah Lokker (New Baltimore, Mich.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her career at ASU.
"I am looking forward to attending Arkansas State University," said Lokker. "I'm excited to get to know my teammates and to become part of the Red Wolves experience."
Lokker is currently bowling in her fourth year at Anchor Bay High School. As a freshman, she earned second team All-Macomb County honors and helped her team to a MAC Blue Division Championship. During her sophomore season, she once again helped ABHS win the MAC Blue Division and earned first team All-State honors. She was the regional singles champion and broke the state record for a two-game series, bowling 288 and 258.
Last season, Lokker again earned All-State honors and won the Utica-Eisenhower Doubles Tournament, the division singles competition, the regional singles competition and the state singles competition. As both a sophomore and junior, she was named one of the Top 100 High School Bowlers by Bowlers Journal International Magazine.
Lokker boasts 14 top-five finishes in her club bowling career thus far, including first place wins at the Michigan Junior Masters Association Tournament (five) and the Michigan State Youth Tournament (two). Most recently, she finished 40th at the 2010 Junior Gold Tournament in Indianapolis, Ind. in July.
"Signing a player of Sarah's caliber is definitely a win for our program," said Kostick. "She is a very versatile player, and we're looking forward to having her here for the next four years."
