ASU Bowling notches 2-2 record on first day of Crusader Classic

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (11/12/10) — The Arkansas State women's bowling team (14-3) posted a 2-2 record on the opening day of the Crusader Classic in Merrillville, Ind. Friday.

The Red Wolves defeated Minnesota State-Mankato 859-719 in their first match of the day but fell 692-681 to Elmhurst in the second.  Valparaiso took a 790-718 win over ASU, but the Red Wolves bounced back to top Wisconsin-Whitewater 830-667.

"We had a bye after the first match, and that hurt our momentum a little," said ASU head coach Justin Kostick.  "We just fell into a lull and didn't play as well as we could have against Elmhurst and Valparaiso.  We're hoping to come out and really compete in the team games tomorrow."

Competition continues at the Crusader Classic both Saturday and Sunday.
