Eureka Springs, Ark. -- Rural superintendents and some legislators are meeting in Eureka Springs today through Wednesday at the Arkansas Rural Education Association's summer meeting.
They hope to agree on a framework for an alternative to Governor Mike Huckabee's school district restructuring plan.
Many small school districts are fighting to avoid consolidation as court-ordered education improvements sweep the state.
Huckabee is expected to call a special legislative session to focus on education issues in September.
