JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Several local organizations teamed up Friday night for the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the Jonesboro Bowling Center. By taking donations, KAIT and several other entities were able to help raise more than $1,235 for Make-A-Wish.
KAIT, the Triple FM Radio Group, East Arkansas Broadcasters, the Jonesboro Mayor's Office, Jonesboro Police Department and Jonesboro Fire Department competed for a chance to bowl against Wes Malott, a professional bowler featured on ESPN.
Malott donated $100 himself after an audience member threw a strike for him in the final frame to defeat Brandon Baxter by one-point. Baxter and the field were given a 70 pin handicap.
According to Make-A-Wish, the average cost of a wish is roughly $5,000. Make-A-Wish helped give children with crippling disabilities or diseases a chance to live out their dream and operates primarily on donations.
For a $5 donation, people were able to get a free pair of shoes and a game of bowling and "vote" for their favorite personalities.
