BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT)- The Baxter County Sheriff's Department says formal charges are pending against a Region 8 man after he was arrested Saturday afternoon following a complaint of possible drug activity at a residence on Windswept Trail.

James Lynn Davis is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center. Around 2:00p.m deputies conducted a search of an outbuilding on the property and found precursors used in the manufacture of methamphetamine and also an object that appeared to be some kind of explosive device in the form of a "pipe bomb".

Authorities believe that the explosive device is incomplete and inert, but that has not been conclusively verified.

The Baxter County Office of Emergency Management and the Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad  from Little Rock were called to the scene to examine the device and decide upon its method of removal and disposal.  The Norfork Police Department were also involved in the initial complaint.

40-year old Davis is currently being held with no bail until official charges are decided upon.  The investigation is continuing, and additional details will be made public at a later time.
