From Arkansas State University
After finishing 16th among 124 runners Nov. 13 at the South Central Regionals in Waco, Texas, Arkansas State freshman cross country athlete Kristina Aubert has been named to the South Central All-Region team as announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Aubert led the Red Wolves to a 12th place finish at the regional meet, running the 6K race in 21:10.02. She also led the Red Wolves to a third-place finish at the SBC Championships with a fourth place individual finish and was named Sun Belt Conference Freshman of the Year and to the All-Conference team at the race's conclusion.
"Kristina has had an unbelievable year and it's a great achievement for her to be an all-region performer," said ASU head coach Lon Badeaux.
She led A-State in all five of its meets this season, including running a personal-best 17:18.39 to finish in 12th place out of 469 runners Oct. 16 at the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival at the University of Arkansas. It was the second consecutive race that she posted a personal-best time, out-pacing the 17:42:24 that she registered Oct. 2 at the Greater Louisville Classic. Aubert was named the Sun Belt Conference Runner of the Week four times this year, including three consecutive times to wrap up the regular season.
