USPS considers moving processing center out of Batesville

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) is considering moving some of its mail processing operations from the Batesville Post Office to the Northeast Arkansas Mail Processing Center in Jonesboro.

A public meeting to discuss the possible move will be held at the Citizen's Bank Annex on 285 East College Street in Batesville, AR on Wed., Nov. 17. Meeting materials and a proposal summary will be available to the public on prior to the meeting.

USPS is considering the move due to low mail volumes and the current economic conditions. A study began in Sept. to determine the feasibility of the proposed move.
