Men's Basketball: Harding 82, Lambuth 69

From Harding University

Harding connected on 45-of-51 free throws and defeated Lambuth 82-69 in non-conference men's basketball action at the Rhodes Field House on Thursday. The victory was Harding's 35th straight in home openers dating back to 1975.

Senior guard Stephen Blake was a perfect 10-of-10 from the foul line and scored a career-high 25 points. Senior forward Kevin Brown had 20 points and 12 rebounds and shot 10-of-13 from the line.

Harding (3-0) shot 41 percent from the field in the first half and used an 11-2 run late in the half and led 40-25 at the break.

Lambuth (0-1) closed to within nine points at 55-46 with 9:10 left in the game, but was plagued by fouls. The Eagles committed 33 fouls in the game and had three players foul out.

Harding tied its largest lead of the game at 72-54 on Kevin Brown's free throw with 3:46 left.

Harding's 45 free throws were the third-most ever made in a game by a Bison team and the most since connecting on a school-record 48 free throws against Arkansas-Monticello in 1992.

Sophomore Bradley Spencer scored nine points, all at the free throw line, and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds. As a team, Harding outrebounded Lambuth 49-35.

Lambuth's Matt Smigielski and Aleksander Eric both came off the bench to score 14 points. Antwan Long had 13.

Harding is back in action on Saturday against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. Thursday's contest was Harding's lone home game in its first six outings this season.
