Woman alleges sexually assault on Lyon College campus

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – Independence County deputies are investigating an alleged sexual assault that occurred on the Lyon College campus.

According to the Independence County Sheriff's Office, a female said she was sexually assaulted on Nov. 13 between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m. Police say the incident began in the lounge area of her dormitory where she and a male began flirting, then went up to her dorm room for consensual kissing.

Police say she later told the male to leave so she could get some sleep because she wanted to get up early in the morning and finish her homework. Police say he then began touching her against her will, leaving hickies and biting her ear lobe; the male was told to stop but refused and forced her to perform oral sex.

Police say when the assault was over, the male asked her what was wrong and if she thought he had done anything wrong. She told him she was fine so he would finally leave, and filed the report with police that afternoon.

According to the female's testimony, the male was drunk at the time of the assault.

This incident is still under investigation by the Independence County Sheriff's Office. Region 8 News will continue to track this story on www.kait8.com and on Region8togo.com.
