WASHINGTON, DC (KAIT) – The national non-profit Center for Education Reform (CER) gives Arkansas' charter school law a "D."
The CER's report has found that weak laws in a majority of states continue to be a barrier for charter school success.
The CER says 40 states and the District of Columbia have laws allowing for charter schools, but those laws vary from state to state. Officials say only three of the forty-one states and districts provide optimal conditions for success while only nine have "strong" laws that have yielded student improvement.
Twenty-nine states have received a "C" or lower.
