CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - The Caruthersville Police Department has issued a warrant to a Region 8 man who was arrested twice within 24 hours on Sunday.
Police say the warrant was issued to 21-year-old Darius McIntyre for two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
McIntyre was first arrested at the Caruthersville Community Center where police say they conducted a pat down search for weapons and found several baggies of marijuana and several hundred dollars instead.
Police say they seized the marijuana and the money as evidence before taking him to the Pemiscot County Jail. He was processed and later released pending the filing of formal charges by the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Police say they saw the same man again during a traffic stop at East 20th and Rufus Streets for improper registration. Officers asked for consent to search the vehicle but were denied permission to search and subsequently called in aK-9 unit for a perimeter search.
After the K-9 alerted on the car, officers searched the vehicle and found several more baggies of marijuana packaged for distribution. The male was arrested again for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
He is currently being held in the Pemiscot County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. The Caruthersville Police Department was assisted by the Kennett Police Department with use of the K-9 unit.
