Five Men Arrested for Solicitation

JONESBORO, Ark. -- Five Region 8 men were arrested Thursday, after each tried to pick up a prostitute, who turned out to be a Jonesboro undercover police officer.

Each of the five men were charged with patronizing a prostitute.
A female Jonesboro officer walked the streets along Washington Avenue Thursday night in an attempt to get men to solicit her for sex.

Police decided to launch the undercover operation after numerous officers observed men trying to pick up prostitutes in the area.

A first offense is a misdemeanor class "a " crime that carries a jail sentence of up to 90 days and a fine not to exceed $500.
The second offense carries jail time of up to one year and a fine not to exceed $1,000.
