Region 8 police catch man with crack cocaine

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) – Police in Caruthersville say they have one man behind bars after discovering he was carrying cocaine.

Officers say they approached 46-year-old Michael Newburn at the intersection 12th and Vest because he seemed nervous and dropped some jewelry on the ground. After further investigation, police say they found a small amount of crack cocaine on him.

Newburn is facing charges for possession of a controlled substance and is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
