Deadline for Crop Assistance Program nearing

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The USDA Craighead County Farm Service Agency (FSA) is reminding people that Dec. 9 is the deadline to apply for assistance for 2009 losses under the Crop Assistance Program (CAP).

According to the FSA, up to $550 million in disaster assistance will be given to rice, upland cotton, soybean and sweet potato farmers in counties that received Secretarial disaster designations for excessive moisture or related conditions in 2009.

If you want to sign up for a CAP, you can do so by going to the FSA County Office where your farm records are maintained before close of business on Dec. 9, 2010.
