BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The Baxter County Sheriff's Office says they used four Baxter County Jail inmates to clean up the New Buzzard Roost – Tracey Cemetery located on Baxter County Road 139 near the Hand Cove Area.

According to Baxter County Sheriff John F. Montgomery, the department decided to use the inmates to clean up the cemetery following the success of the clean up at the Talburt Cemetery. Both cemeteries were neglected for several years and were so over grown they were difficult to locate.

The sheriff's office says only two grave markers are currently standing at the New Buzzard Roost – Tracey Cemetery with about 38 others broken or propped up against a tree at the edge of cemetery. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers does have official records of the names and information for each burial plot in the cemetery, so re-marking each grave site will be possible.
