MTSU going to Bowl, Troy to New Orleans Bowl, FIU to Little Caesars Pizza Bowl

Murfreesboro, TN ( - MTSU should play a third different bowl in five years, as it appears the Blue Raiders are headed to the Bowl in Mobile, Ala.

The game is set for Thursday, Jan. 6, at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. Kickoff is 7 p.m. on ESPN.

Troy's department confirmed via Twitter that it will play in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. The Dothan Eagle reported Troy will play Ohio University, but official announcement of Troy's opponent is expected later today.

The Toledo Blade newspaper reported Florida International will face Toledo in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit. The Miami Herald has reported the same via blog and Twitter.

All indications, as well as numerous reports, put MTSU in the Bowl versus Mid-American Conference champion Miami (Ohio). The official announcement will come following a 5:30 p.m. conference call at MTSU, open only to the team and media.

It will be the Blue Raiders' first trip to the Bowl, previously called the GMAC Bowl. This will also mark MTSU's third bowl appearance in coach Rick Stockstill's five-year tenure, following last season's win over Southern Mississippi in the New Orleans Bowl and a loss to Central Michigan in the 2006 Motor City Bowl.

MTSU (6-6) clinched bowl eligibility with a come-from-behind 28-27 win over Sun Belt Conference champion Florida International Saturday night.
