JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A local library is full of the Christmas spirit. The Friends of the Library hosted it's annual Christmas Open House at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library on Wednesday.
The Friends of the Library have put on this event for the last seventeen years.
Martie Shull, Vice President of Friends of the Library, says each year it continues to grow, "Every year it gets bigger, it lasts longer and every year I think we have an even better time."
Shull says the Friends of the Library first started the event years ago for a very important reason, "We have our annual holiday reception to say thank you to all the library patrons. Also, they wanted to say thank you to the community and to make sure people knew about the Friends of the Library."
Shull says the annual event is always a lot of fun, but has an important purpose.
"These are community builders. These are ways to bring people together who might not know each other. To introduce other children to other groups of children. We have a very special lunch that features Hispanic food. To introduce diverse communities. It's just a way to build Jonesboro to keep it the great city that it is."
The days event began at ten in the morning and continued on til five in the evening.
