Region 8 Storm Team programming weather radios

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Region 8 Storm Team is hitting the road to keep you safe during severe weather. Thursday Ryan, Sarah and Justin programmed weather radios for the public at the Barton's location in Paragould.

Local resident Freda Yow says she got her weather radio two years ago as a gift. Since that time, it hasn't been working.

When Freda heard about the chance to get her instrument up and running, she headed for Barton's. "Well, I thought it was neat that they would do this because we didn't know nothing about it. A friend got it for us about two years ago, and when I heard about it that's when I brought it up here for ya'll to fix for me."

Freda says she was glad when she first acquired the instrument because she feels it's a good tool to have around during severe weather.

"I think it's important to have here in Paragould. To get your weather and everything. And a lot of times your electricity will go out too, you know, where you can use this battery and listen to the weather."

After a quick conversation with Region 8's Ryan Vaughan, Freda's weather radio was working and she now she understands how it works.
