Murfreesboro, TN (BlueRaiders.com) - MTSU sophomore guard/forward David Murray will leave the basketball team, as announced by coach Kermit Davis.
Murray, from Leeds, Ala., is leaving to attend a school closer to his family as they deal with personal matters. The 6-foot-4 Murray played in 18 games as a freshman last season, scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds total. He has not played this season.
"David is a terrific young man with a great future ahead of him," Davis said. "His mom has been fighting illness and really wants him closer to help her. He has been a great teammate and presently enjoying a very good fall academic semester. We want to wish David and his family the best of luck."
Added Murray: "I have really enjoyed my time at Middle Tennessee and thank everyone for all their help and support. My mom and family need me now and I feel it is best if I continue my education in the Birmingham area."
