PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - Seventy-two hours. That's how long one local organization had to renovate their food pantry.
With the help of some volunteers, Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas received new walls, shelving, paint and ceiling tiles this past weekend.
But, Development Director with Mission Outreach, Jeremy Biggs says, more work needs to be done.
"It's onto the next project. This is just one step in our remodel projects for going into 2011. They include a kitchen expansion, a new prep area, a children's learning center and a library," Biggs says.
Biggs also says the renovations helped Mission Outreach accomplish two goals.
"We wanted it to be cleaner and we wanted it to allow the volunteers, so it would function better for them. It provides more shelf space and the metal shelving we will be able to keep much more lean than the wooden shelves that used to be here," Biggs says.
Mission Outreach will be accepting donations outside the Paragould Wal-Mart every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Christmas.
Money raised will go towards local programs and services.
