"Shop with a Cop" shows kids a different side of the law

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The Jonesboro Police Department gave even more to the community on Saturday.

Kids with City Youth Ministries got to spend the morning hitting the department stores with JPD officers.

"Shop with a Cop" gas been happening for the past three years. The Rotary Club provided a one hundred dollar gift card for each child to spend as they chose.

The event gave the children a chance to see a different side of law enforcement. "They were nice, I had fun. Usually you think of the police as being serious but they joked around a lot, I had fun." said Shanicquia White, who came back from shopping with bags of goodies.

Officer Jason Cook was one officer who helped out with the event and said that it was a great chance for JPD to show the kids a different side of the law and to spend time with them.

After they got done shopping they were treated to a meal at Chick-Fil-A
