CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) – A Region 8 man is behind bars after police say he broke into the home of an elderly lady to steal her jar of change.

According to the Caruthersville Police Department, they responded to a home invasion call Sunday evening at 907 Carleton.

When police arrived, the 86-year-old home owner told police that a black male came into her home uninvited and stole a jar of change.

Police say the home owner gave police a description of the male who was picked up about 10 minutes later.

Police arrested Willie Tilson and charged him with first degree burglary, and robbery in the second degree. Tilson is in the Pemiscot County Jail on a $60,000 bond.

The homeowner was not harmed in the robbery.
