LANSING, MI (KAIT) – A couple from Region 8 were killed early Tuesday when the semi-truck they were driving hit a bridge near Lansing, Michigan.
The accident happened around 5am Tuesday morning on Interstate 96 in Eaton County, Michigan.
According to the Lansing State Journal and the Eaton County Sheriff's Department, Calvin and Brenda Roberts from Oil Trough were killed when their semi-truck slammed into a bridge and then burst into flames.
Both Calvin and Brenda were killed in the accident.
The interstate was closed for almost 8 hours while crews worked to clean up the accident. The cause of the accident has not been released, but the bridge they struck had to be closed down until support beams could be installed.
