Rockport, Ark. -- With a stretch of important real estate along Interstate 30 at stake, the city of Rockport wants to continue its fight against Malvern's annexation of 100 acres from its smaller neighbor. Rockport filed suit three years ago after Malvern annexed the land, using a state law that allows a city that performs more consistent services to gobble up parts of a neighbor. Rockport lost that court action. But the lawyer representing Rockport, Mark Stodola of Little Rock, says a state Supreme Court victory by the city of Maumelle against its neighbor, North Little Rock, gives Rockport new hope for winning an appeal.
