JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Thanks to small donations throughout the year, the Salvation Army received a big donation just in time for Christmas.
Monday afternoon, The Mall at Turtle Creek presented a check for $500 to the Salvation Army.
Sarah McGavran with the Mall at Turtle Creek says that money people threw into a water garden collected several hundred dollars.
They wanted to choose a charity to help out during the holidays with that money and the Salvation Army is the lucky recipient.
"There are times when you sort of think, 'Okay, where are things going to come from or how are we going to fill the gap?' But the gifts such as what the mall did today will help fill the gaps," Captain Mark Boatman with the Salvation Army says.
In addition to the Salvation Army's Angel tree, there are also other charities the mall helps out during the holidays including CASA, The Foundation of Arts and the Rotary Club.
