Region 8 man arrested for shooting a woman

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)- Saturday, December 18th a Paragould man was arrested for domestic battering after he allegedly shot a woman.

According to Paragould Police, Brian Friar, 29, was arrested after officers were called to North 7th Avenue in reference to a disturbance.  Police say they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the left side of her torso.  The victim was taken to the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center and then later transferred to The Med in Memphis.

Paragould Police say Friar's neighbor told police that he heard a man and woman arguing and that he saw Friar with a black handgun.

A search warrant was obtained for Friar's residence, and according to police documents, a black 9 millimeter handgun was recovered with one round in the chamber.  In addition, a clip containing four live rounds and a shell casing from a 9 millimeter was found at the residence.  Paragould Police reported that there was evidence of a struggle in the kitchen area.

Police say that Friar was later interviewed and gave a self-incriminating statement.  His bond is set at $250,000 and he scheduled to appear in court on January 28th.
