SEARCY, AR (KAIT) – Police in Searcy have arrested a man they say set three different fires in one night.

According to the Searcy Police Department, Audley "A.J" King was arrested and charged with arson for three different fires Tuesday night.

Police say they first responded to Mayfair Apartments at 101 North Spring Street around 8pm to help crowd control when the apartments were evacuated because of a fire. The fire was put out, and then both fire and police noticed a car on behind the apartments.

A witness told police they saw someone exit the car after it began smoking. King was identified as the person running from the car, but wasn't found at the scene.

Fire and police were then both called to 214 South Elm Street around 9pm in reference to another fire at an apartment complex. Police later found out the apartment on fire belonged to King.

A short time later police responded to a break-in call at the White County Courthouse, and found King and placed him under arrest.

King is charged with 3 counts of arson, and police say the case is still under investigation.
