North Texas 81, UALR 69

DENTON, Texas (AP) - Josh White scored 19 points and Tristan

Thompson and Dominique Johnson added 14 each as North Texas

defeated Arkansas-Little Rock 81-69 on Thursday night in the Sun

Belt Conference opener for both schools.

The Mean Green (12-2) tied its best record after 14 games, set

in 1952-53.

Solomon Bozeman scored 23 points and Courtney Jackson 16 for

Arkansas-Little Rock (8-7).

North Texas, which won its 12th straight game against Sun Belt

opposition, shot a season-high 59.6 percent (28 of 47).

A Bozeman 3-pointer cut the Mean Green's lead to 23-20 with 8:14

remaining in the first half, but those were the Trojans' last

points for nearly 5½ minutes. North Texas used a 12-0 run during

that stretch to take control.

Denver 65, Louisiana-Lafayette 52

DENVER (AP) - Travis Hallam and his brother Chase Hallam each

scored 13 points and Denver pulled away in the closing minutes to

beat Louisiana-Lafayette 65-52 on Thursday night for its third

consecutive victory.

Tyler Thalken and Kyle Lewis added nine points apiece for Denver

(5-9), helping the Pioneers get off to a winning start in the Sun

Belt Conference opener for both teams.

J.J. Thomas had 11 points to lead the Ragin' Cajuns (2-10), who

lost their 11th straight on the road, including all seven this


Louisiana-Lafayette also lost forward Scottie Farrington to an

injury with just less than 16 minutes left when he took a knee to

the face during a scramble for the ball beneath Denver's basket.

The blow opened up a gash above Farrington's left eye, which had to

be stitched up. He returned to the bench after being treated but

did not return to the game.
