UALR to play Florida Atlantic on ESPN2 on January 22nd

NEW ORLEANS - The Sun Belt Conference in conjunction with ESPN announced today that the January 22 match-up between UALR and Florida Atlantic will be televised by ESPN 2 at 1 p.m. ET/12 p.m. CT in Boca Raton, Fla.

The game was chosen as the Sun Belt Conference's wildcard selections.

FAU (8-6, 2-0 SBC) is eighth in scoring offense in the SBC averaging 68.1 points per game and allowing 67.9 points per game (fifth in SBC) through games played by Dec. 30. UALR (8-7, 0-1 SBC) is just behind the Owls in scoring offense with 67.2 points per game while giving up 66.2 points per game.

In their only match-up last season the Owls prevailed with a 77-74 win over the Trojans.

The Owls are led by sophomores Greg Gantt (14.3 ppg) and Raymond Taylor (3.8 apg). Taylor is the reigning SBC Player of the Week, winning the honor back on Dec. 21. Senior Brett Royster, the SBC Defensive Player of the Year in 2009-10 and FAU all-time blocks leader, needs just 13 more blocks to tie Alan Ogg of UAB for the most blocks in SBC history.

UALR is led by seniors Solomon Bozeman and Alex Garcia-Mendoza. Bozeman ranks sixth in the SBC in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game. He is fifth in both free-throw and three-point shooting as well (85.1% FT, 45.1% 3PT).
