North Texas suspends Jacquelyn Hearne indefinitely

Denton, TX (Denton Record Chronicle) - Jacquelyn Hearne has been indefinitely suspended from the UNT women's basketball team, head coach Shanice Stephens said today.

Hearne was a bit player at best, but she was a bit player with size who could have come in handy later in a season that is quickly getting away from UNT. At 0-2 in Sun Belt play, UNT needs to start winning now, which is bad news as the Mean Green heads off to play conference power Middle Tennessee on Wednesday.

George Odufuwa missed practice today and is questionable for Wednesday's game at MTSU. UNT has some depth in the post, but George is a difference-maker. It would be nice for UNT to have him back sooner rather than later.

And finally, UNT is going to try to get a sixth year for Cameron Spencer, who has not played this year due to a knee injury. He played two years at SMU, sat a year, played last year after transferring and has yet to play this year.

UNT has never had much luck with appeals to the NCAA. We will have to see how this one goes.
