DONIPHAN, MO (KAIT) – A man has been arrested on suspicion of starting several arsons outside the city limits of Doniphan.
According to Ripley County Sheriff Ron Barnett, Joshua Dale Paisley was arrested Tuesday after turning himself in. The Ripley County Sheriff's Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol issued a warrant for his arrest after a third suspected arson was reported in December.
"He's a local boy and his dad, I'm sure, informed him of that and he did come in and turn himself in," said Barnett.
Barnett said a home caught fire at Route 2 Box 6827 north of the Doniphan city limits in April. Route 2 is also known as K Highway. Another structure caught fire on Route 2 at Box 6882 a few months later. A second home caught fire in December at Route 1 Box 1296, or Highway 142 East. Barnett said he believes all three fires are connected. No one was injured in the fires.
"All that will come out later on, (regarding a motive) but we do believe we have enough evidence to get a Probable Cause Affidavit and charge him with those crimes," said Barnett. "There's been a lot of fires around here. Of course, we've had the fatality fires and all that. It's just something that we're not going to tolerate this happening."
Barnett said the fires appear to be connected because Paisley had history with the victims.
"Two of those are in the same area where he lives and then they have had some altercations in the past," said Barnett. "We got information with the fire marshal working with us. We got information that they might be related and through out investigation, we found out that it possibly was and there was enough evidence."
Barnett said Paisley will appear in court in the coming months to address the charges. No other arrests have been made.
