JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The first snow storm of 2011 could hit the Mid South Sunday. A low pressure system will move in from Texas bringing snow across the South. The biggest impact will be felt near and south of Interstate 40.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning Sunday night through Monday morning for the following: Cross, Crittenden, Mississippi, Poinsett, St. Francis, White and Woodruff Counties in Region 8.
Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches is possible in those counties with locally higher amounts. North of that line, including the Jonesboro, Trumann, Blytheville, Paragould, and Newport areas could see 1 to 2 inches of snow with some approaching 3 inches. A Winter Storm Warning means winter weather is expected and will likely impact travel conditions. Check the latest forecast before heading out.
