Niece of Arkansas woman killed in Afghanistan

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The niece of an Arkansas woman has been killed in combat in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced Saturday that Sgt. Zainah Creamer died Wednesday of injuries she sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near her unit. The 28-year-old Creamer was assigned to the 212th Military Police Detachment, Headquarters
Battalion, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Military officials list Creamer's hometown as Texarkana, Texas. U.S. Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., said in a statement that Creamer's aunt resides in Lewisville.

Ross says America lost another truly great hero, and that her death is another reminder of what American soldiers risk when they answer the call of duty.
