Ex-student gets 4 months for Missouri State threat

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - A former student has been sentenced to 4 months in jail for a threat that prompted a lockdown at Missouri State University in 2007.

Thirty-four-year-old Christopher Suttles, of Phillipsburg, had pleaded guilty in November to making a terrorist threat.

Suttles received the sentence Friday in Greene County Circuit Court. KYTV reports that Judge Tom Mountjoy termed the 120-day jail sentence shock time. Suttles will be on probation for several years and must get counseling.

Suttles was accused of sending an e-mail to two faculty members that threatened students of diverse backgrounds. A campus building was locked down for an hour while police searched for explosives.

The incident occurred in April 2007 just three days after a gunman killed 32 people at Virginia Tech University.
