JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A dozen 911 dispatchers are training in Jonesboro versus going to Little Rock.

In the past all dispatchers had to travel to Little Rock for level 2 ACIC training. This training takes 3 days and can cost departments a good deal of money for travel, lodging etc.

Now the state has instituted a mobile training program where the instructor brings all the necessary computer equipment to a central location and the dispatchers and law enforcement officers train locally.

Training began Monday in Jonesboro who is hosting it's first ever class for level 2 training. Benny Battles the Training Manager from the ACIC center in Little Rock spent the first couple of hours discussing who can and who can't have access to information on the system.

After receiving their level 2 certification, dispatchers will be able to input data as well as receive data  and pass it on to law enforcement officers.
