Apartment above SE MO bar goes up in flames

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) – An early morning fire destroys an apartment in southeastern Missouri.

The fire happened in an apartment above the Neighborhood Bar at 512 South 5th Street in Poplar Bluff.

According to the Poplar Bluff Fire Department, flames could be seen shooting from the second floor windows as crews arrived on scene.

The fire chief said the fire started in one of the bedroom, but because of the extensive damage they may never know what actually started the blaze.  The Poplar Bluff Fire Chief says the fire has been ruled accidental.

Four people were inside the home at the time of the fire, and made it out unharmed. Two rooms inside the apartment are a total loss, while the Neighborhood Bar did not suffer any damages.
